It has been said countless times, Taylor Swift is a lyrical genius. And yes, while her two latest albums, Folklore and Evermore hit that home for people, her lyrical genius started way before. She has brilliant lyrics in all of her songs, but here are 5 that make me light up every single time. My favorite thing about Taylor's songwriting is the way that she paints a picture with her carefully written words that make you feel like you are there. This is why so many people relate to her songs.
One of the first lyrics that really stuck with me from Taylor is from Treacherous off her Red album.
I have always loved the way she sings this lyric with such lightness even though it is a pretty deep question. Is it a choice to get swept away? Still haunts me, in a good way. A bonus lyric in this song "Nothing safe is worth the drive." My shy side needs to hear this a lot.
Sparks Fly is my favorite song from Speak Now and we were gifted with this gem of a lyric in it.
Sparks Fly is such a romantic giddy song and the way this lyric is sung makes me light up like a firework. Being so entranced with someone that you can't take your eyes off them is so fun that I always go back to this song when I need a pick me up.
First, I will say Reputation as a whole does not get enough credit for the amazing lyrics throughout. Call it What You Want is sooo good and this lyric takes the cake for the whole album.
Taylor makes references to Joe Alwyn's eyes many times throughout her songs but this one is such a vivid description, once I hear it I will think about it for the whole entire day, picking apart each word in this prime lyric.
Daylight is a sweet song to end such a sweet album like Lover. It has a few really great lyrics, but this is my #1
The fact that she brings up the song Red and how she thought she needed a passionate, crazy love but as she grew up she learned that a sparkly golden love is what will last. Wow it gets me emotional every time. As a hopeless romantic, "I don't wanna look at anything else now that I saw you" is a close runner up.
Out of the Woods is my favorite song on 1989 and maybe of all time from Taylor Swift. This whole song is a rollercoaster of emotions, but this lyric is a masterpiece.
The feeling that everything else was dull before you met the one who turns it from black and white to color. Wow, deep. Also, not just color: screaming color. Taylor is impressive with a thesaurus, and with a bridge of a song - wow.
Every time I listen to Taylor's songs is a new adventure and I can't wait to find more lyrics that hit me like these do.
